JULY 19 PICNIC RSVP THREAD
OK, I just got a message from someone who is no longer with us RSVP'ing "yes" to July 19. That person is bringing cake.

I propose meeting at the Minnehaha Park picnic shelter at 1PM and scouting out a table from there. If it's raining (as it was one year), we can figure out which restaurant to adjourn to.

Bring your own meat or vegetarian item to barbecue (unless it's raining, of course, in which case, bring your ideas on which restaurant to adjourn to.) I will bring paper dishes, plastic silverware, and napkins for everyone.

Who can bring:

Beverages (The parks don't allow alcohol, so some pop and/or sparkling water would be great)

Buns

Salads

Fixings (mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, relish)

Please RSVP yes and tell me what you can bring.

1. I'll be there
once we get a count, I'll pick up hot dogs and brats (if enough people want them). I only let myself have hot dogs at picnics and ball games - so I don't want to go home with a bunch of them - I'll get enough for us to share.

I'll take suggestions on what brands people may prefer.

Though, I'll probably pick up Hebrew National all beef certified Kosher hot dogs - assuming they truly are Kosher (and the manufacturer could be in quite a bit of trouble if the claim isn't true), they would be a little safer to eat.

22. Hebrew Nationals are wonderful
Really the only ones I buy.

Do we need things like chips? I could bring Doritoes and potato chips, perhaps. Alternatively, if there's a place to plug in a Crock-Pot I can make my nutritionally-void but fairly tasty beefy cheesy mexican dip and some tortilla chips to eat it with.

I can also bring a desert item, assuming we don't have anybody allergic to cashews.

23. There's a place in the picnic shelter, but since the point is to eat outside
munchies would probably be the best option.

We already have someone bringing cake.

I think I'll probably bring a six-pack of some fruit-based soda, since I don't like sugary drinks and am leery of aspartame-laced drinks.

Nancy, did you hear from the same former DUer that I did, the one who is a vegan?

Doritoes, regular Lays, and sea-salt-and-pepper kettle-cooked Lays.

I can also swipe some mayo, mustard, and ketchup packets from work if you want.

How many people are we looking at? Do I need to buy more chips?

I also need to know how many packets to steal appropriate.

And could you peek at this map? I'm assuming you mean "C" as a meetup point, but I just would like to make sure. I've never been there before.

If memory serves dpbrown has a cute little daughter, but he's down as a "maybe".

I'm concerned about keeping the krispos kid amused, that's all.

dflprincess and I hung around in the picnic shelter till 1:30PM and then we joined the others (Velveteen Ocelot, krispos42, krispos Junior, GAspnes, and two former DUers) on a grassy knoll for hotdogs, hamburgers, potato salad, cold drinks, and yummy desserts.

The weather was perfect, with sunshine and temperatures in the upper seventies.

Sorry you couldn't make it!
