Why is Gaertner still in the Governor race?
I can't remember if she was on the DFL ballot, but I haven't seen any delegates for her. At all.
(So was she not on the ballot - like Dayton?)

1. Gaertner is still in the race because ...
Gaertner is still in the race because she hears the siren song of unmitigated ego. She cannot believe she is disliked to the extent she seems to be.

The poor woman is delusional. She imagines she is getting younger too and I have heard she has been carrying on ala John Edwards. The news stories about her might get juicy.

One of the funniest books ever written about political intrigues was "Panties On, Panties Off" written by the wife of a politician in Mexico.

2. I think she was on the ballot but I couldn't swear to it
I do know that she has announced that, like Dayton and Entenza, she will go to the primary.

3. She was on the ballot and came in last
among the serious candidates with 2.06% of the vote.

As to the OP question, must be some kind of ego thing as she has no chance of winning and will be lucky to break 5% in August.

4. I know she's not the only one (and not just in this race)
who continues on, getting money from people for something absolutely fruitless.
And, to my knowledge, she doesn't have any Great Ideas/Causes to push for the platform.

I guess it's me...I just couldn't continue to try to talk people into giving me
their money when it's obvious I'm going nowhere and have nothing (OK, I'll be charitable
and offer the alternative "little") to offer.
While the money could be used for something worthwhile (DFL needs to win this one!).

Thanks for your responses.

5. When she spoke at our SD52 convention last Saturday, she seemed to have thrown in the towel.
She made no real mention of her gubernatorial candidacy, and instead devoted her time to thanking and praising other DFL candidates who are running for various offices.
