I did not think I would weep when I realized that real health care reform would not pass. Now that the reconciliation bill has been released and it contains a few minor changes to a bill that is basically a windfall for big insurance and drug corporation executives, I find myself weeping. Under the bill many of the working poor will be shoved into inferior health plans with premiums that will bleed them. Those who cannot even afford the bleeding premiums will be left without insurance--struggling--hoping to find health care when needed so they do not die.
At the same time, the rich will get richer. Today, the day of the reconciliation bill's release, stock in UnitedHealth Group jumped up nicely in price. The shareholders did well on the backs of the suffering.
Then I saw that Amy Klobuchar, who helped kill real health care reform with her repeated refusals to support a public option until it was too late. Now she is lying and claiming that she supported the public option all along. She dresses in her black undertaker clothes and tolls the bell for the working poor.
This fight over health care changed me. There was a time that blue dog Democrats like Klobuchar and her supporters were understandable to me. That time has passed. To me they are cruel and selfish--a blight who will go down in the history books as lessons in the study of evil.
When I go places, I notice the greedy blue dog Klobuchar supporters like to clap others on the back and express feigned affection. Running into them is like being an innocent person being taken to the gallows by a friendly executioner. Is there a place in hell hot enough for such executioners when the executioners know the innocents are indeed innocent as they are in the health care situation?
Now that real health care reform has been killed, I know a lot of greedy and basically cruel people who will be trying to get into my good graces. Of course, they wouldn't want me to carry a grudge. Guess again, greedy and cruel folks in undertaker clothes. I'll be avoiding you.
