Lori Swanson to Tim Pawlenty: File your own brief!

Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson has rejected a request from Gov. Tim Pawlenty to sue over the new federal health care law.

Instead, Swanson said Monday she will file a friend-of-the-court brief supporting the federal government in a lawsuit filed by 13 state attorneys general.

...Pawlenty had asked Swanson to challenge whether a requirement that individuals buy health insurance is constitutional.

Swanson tells Pawlenty he could file his own friend-of-the-court brief as governor to support the legal challenge.

1. Tim Pawlenty is done as Governor of MN. He was done as soon
as he announced he was not running in 2010. Since then, he has done nothing but posture in his bid to become POTUS. The irony is that he is hated by the right as much as by the left. The right wing of the GOP considers him a RINO. The left sees him for what he is, a two-faced liar.

His political career is over. Kaput. FUBAR. Done.

6. Us Minnesotans can't be rid of T-Paw soon enough
He's been punishing our state so he can run for president saying he's never raised taxes in Minnesota. The main way he's done this is by cutting local government aid, which then causes counties and cities to raise their own taxes to fill in the budget hole.

11. He was done prior to announcing. He knew he was not going to get re-elected.

2. Even if Swanson had wanted to go along with it -
I wonder where Timmy thought the state would get the money to join in the suit. I heard that one reason another AG (Arizona's, I think) had refused to go along with the suit was because of the cost, saying a friend of the court brief would be much cheaper.

4. I am a member of the Lori Swanson fan club.
She did one hell of a number on the National Arbitration Forum and their scam to collect credit card debts. Real friend of the little guy, IMO.

Go, Lori! :applause:

5. Good for her!
I'm so sick of this pathetic argument....'Mandated to buy health insurance.'

Shit. We're mandated to buy crap all the time. Take car insurance for example, home insurance by banks.

Hell, I want a public option and not this 'republican lite/pro-corporate' mandated version of HCR but I guess it's better than being stuck with a stick in my eye.

Just got my Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield rate increase letter....un-fucking-believable. Too bad the over 55 crowd can't get on their parents Medicare insurance like the under 26 crowd.

$300/month with a $5,000 deductible. Who can afford this??? When I started the policy in 2004 in was under $100/month. And I've had no hospital visits, nothing broken, and less than 10 doctor appts. (mainly just ob-gyn every two yrs.) One prescription which stopped last year.

They're fucking thieves.

I don't know what I'm going to do. Seven and a half years before Medicare. The young ones got care while the over 55/under 65 are looking at the underside of the bus.

If 55 and over can't get on Medicare, I believe Assisted Suicide should be allowed and paid for by the Feds. And if the Pro-Life turds get a burr up their ass on this, they can pay for what ails us over 55 year-old unemployed and unwanted.

   :argh: :grr: :grr: :grr:

7. Unless you qualfy for help with your premium chances are that not much will change for you.
Even if you do qualify for a premium subsidy you'll still have to deal with big out of pocket expenses so, no, it will not be any better than the crap most of us have now.

That said, I'm glad Swanson didn't go along with Timmy's posturing. It's a waste of time and money.

BTW - a lender requiring you to have insurance on the item they're financing isn't really the same at all. In that case, the insurance is just a condition of the loan you're choosing to take out and the lender is only looking out for their interests.

8. Yes, I know the lender is looking
out for its own interests....yet it is required for the little dude to pay. Why wouldn't the Corporation pay the insurance? It's THEIR interest.

I don't know...Americans have been so brainwashed into thinking that Big Biz deserves every nickel and dime it can get. Did you see that Exxon-Mobil paid no taxes in 2009???

I'm sick of this Fascist way of business....Corporations hand-in-hand with the Government offering very little in Competition and now sending jobs to China, India, etc.

This is NOT Capitalism. I guess it's just another form of Robber Barons/Monopolies. Walmart put everyone out of business. America is a mere shadow of herself.

9. The insurance is a condition of the loan
just like the interst rates and payment amounts and due date. If you don't like the conditions, don't sign the contract.

I really don't see where that is being brainwashed you're under no obligation to borrow money for a house or car.

10. I'm sorry.....obviously
you and I are on a very different page when it comes to Corporations, seeing trees in the forest, and split ends.

And car insurance? Nevermind....I know one has to be responsible for other's lack of responsibility.

All I wanted was a Public Option that offered COMPETITION to the Corporate Whores. Instead we get a Mandate which does little to nothing to control Premium Cost....yes, I know....we must have the Corporate Insurers making lots of money so their stock rises, the big boyz get millions of dollars for salaries and bonuses, and dividends rise.

Funny how Insurers really care nothing about their customers' health....just their bottom lines.

BTW....I'm a little leery of people who call themselves 'princesses.' But that's just me.
