Target Field: I'm still not happy that tax money is being used for it -
Edited on Thu Apr-15-10 08:45 PM by dflprincess
but after going to today's game with absolutely perfect weather all I can say is WOW! I knew indoor ball was wrong but after 28 years I think I had become numb to how awful the Dome was.

1. It's a beautiful park but I still resent how it was funded
Now that everyone has fallen in love with it, the Vikings will be next. Yet unemployment is still hight and so many services have been cut for the poor and disadvantaged but no, sports will undoubtedly come first before restoring anything lost.

2. At least when the Twins ball park was funded the economy was in better shape
not that that excuses using public revenue for it. But to fund another one that way when services are being cut would be criminal.

3. Exactly right.
I can't believe our state reps are even considering raising or shifting sales taxes for funding a Viking's stadium in this economic climate. It's a slap in the face to everyone who's suffered from a loss of services. What really upsets me, though, are the oridinary citizens who are clamoring for it. Do they have such tunnel-vision that they can't see how bad things are or are they a bunch of teabaggers who just don't care? It just goes to show what some people's priorities are. It's ENTERTAINMENT, people, and not important when there are lives at stake.

4. The Dome is horrible and permanently hurt my hearing. I say kick the Timberwolves out of
Target Center and redo that site into a real football stadium.

6. I keep quoting Darren McGavin in "Christmas Story" - when he gest the leg lamp set up and turned on
"It's, it's - it's indescribably beautiful!"

My twenty year old nephew, having never seen a major league game played outside, was just like a little kid. He usually has an awful time getting up in the morning but Thursday he had no trouble waking up he was so excited. And when we got there - he was nearly speechless.

7. Thank god they did not build a Vikings Stadium first
At least this one gets used for a couple dozen games a year in spring and summer as opposed to what, ten for the Vikings in fall and winter.

8. The Twins play 81 games at home
and, hopefully, a few post season ones as well.

9. Any new Vikings stadium would be a multi-purpose one.
Like the Dome is - hosting many events year-round. So whatever reasons you have for opposing a new Vikings stadium, that's an invalid one.

how many events a year? the limited information i have read satates not a lot. plus won't it steal business from the U of MN stadium?

11. No. The U of M Stadium will stand on it's own.

12. I'm pissed at the shady way the county commissioners rammed the tax hike through.
There's a state law that requires voter approval for this kind of crap but they managed to sneak it through.

13. The way they shoehorned the regressive tax increase through the loopholes
was as artful as the way they shoehorned that wonderful stadium into that tricky site.
