AM 950 Twin Cities Progressive Talk - has a right-wing show on now Midnight Radio Network
Its 440 am CT Monday morning. I've been listening to Gary McNamara on the Midnight Radio Network for at least 2 hours spewing right-wing ranting and raving about how Obama cut Medicare for our seniors, how tax increases for the "so-called" rich will hurt jobs because the "so-called" rich buy 50% of consumer products and invest the rest in job creation, how the Dem's credit card reforms are making it harder for people to get credit cards, so they are going to much higher-interest pay day loans, and on and on.

He was on at the 300am-400am hour too.

I also noticed that the Midnight Radio Network was on Tuesday 9/14 in the 1200am - 100am hour, Wednesday 9/15 in the 100am-200am hour.

At all these times, there is supposed to be a "Best Of" Thom Hartmann or Mike Malloy or Leslie Marshall or other progressive talker

In the past month or so, I've heard a lot of dead air, like for an hour or more at a time.

Anyone know what's going on?

It is the only progressive talk adio station in Minnesota, so this is really disturbing.

I called the station about 2 weeks ago (office: 952-946-8885) about the dead air (particularly Leslie Marshall not being heard a couple weeks ago for about a month) and they were surprised. But seem to have fixed that problem. I didn't call about the Midnight Radio Network airing on 9/14 and 9/14 because thought it was some fluke, and the parts I heard then were regular truck talk, not some right-wing hosts going beserk about Obamacare.

I tried calling both the call-in line (-6205) and office about an hour ago, but no answer (no surprise at 316am, but maybe there's a technician... there). Will call during business hour.

1. Did you get an explanation from the station?
This is the first I've heard of RW programming on this station. Not good.

2. Kind of like Fox advertising constantly on MPR now. Any one notice that.

3. Weird. I don't know how far Janet Robert would go...
to do that. I know the station isn't in the best financial situation. But it seems odd that she'd allow RW talk on the station.

4. Janet Robert responds
I got an email response (below the dashed line). Interesting. Very Interesting.

I'm surprised to hear that they are awakened by dead air, considering for example on 9/10 1200am-200am I "listened" to 2 hours of Leslie Marshall rebroadcast where the station's commercials played and the news, but other than that, dead. A few other times before that, though only spot checked now and then. There were also many times where the Leslie Marshall rebroadcast was really faint, so I guess it wouldn't count as dead air, and maybe wouldn't set off some alarm system. (Similar pattern -- Leslie Marshall show very faint, but the station commercials and the news came in full strength).

I wonder if the satellite company is run by a bunch of righties. Anyhow, here is her response.

===================================================
Thanks for your email, as sometimes we aren't aware of these issues, because most of us don't listen late at night. However, whenever there is dead air, we are awakened by it. That is how we found out about Midnight Trucker Radio last week, but I thought it was corrected.

We have had a lot of issues the last two weeks with the company that sends the feed over the satellite. They failed to send the correct shows for quite a few of our weekend shows this last week as well as sending us the Trucker Radio show.

Please let me know any other time you hear a problem as we are eager to fix the problems.

6. Thanks for posting her response...you may be right
about the satellite company run by righties.
I hope this gets resolved -- and that we don't lose this station.

Agree with removing her direct contact info too!
