Minnesota GOP exposes its governing philosophy!
GOP Chairman Tony Sutton's made remarks critical of Republicans backing Independence Party candidate Tom Horner. In comments to The Associated Press, Sutton used a word with Nazi origins, saying, "There's a special place in hell for these quislings."

Skipping the easy connection to Nazis, the item of most interest would be: "special place in hell." While most political party members would choose to back the party's nominee, this year demonstrates what happens when the radicals assume control. Sutton's party isn't looking to be inclusive. Rather its a group of people who consider themselves exclusive. Either their way or the highway. Unfortunately, they tossed so many people overboard that they might be lucky to come up with 30% in the November election.

1. Emmer is radical even by MN GOP standards
Most Republicans are not that extreme. It really shows how far the party has moved since the Arne Carlson days when they pretty muck kicked him out of the party (and he got back at them by getting reelected).

Background on Quisling:

2. The MN GOP is a clown show
Sutton, Brodkorb, all of them.
When all you can do each and every day is rip up, tear down, insult and offend, what effing good are you, really.
I hope Emmer drags them all down.

And if you're reading this Mikey, no, there is no one in the DFL who carries on like this.

3. "Skipping the easy connection to Nazis" is something the author really should have done.

The term "quisling", meaning a turncoat or traitor, was not coined by Nazis, but by people passionately opposed to the Nazis. Vidkun Quisling was the Norwegian official who headed the puppet government installed by the Nazis after they invaded Norway in World War II. Detested by patriotic Norwegians, he was tried and executed after the war ended. His name has been synonymous with "traitor" ever since.

It was unfair (or sensationalist) of the Strib article's author to associate the Minnesota GOP with Nazis just for using this term. The real meat of the matter is that the Minnesota GOP has driven out almost every thoughtful, reasonable conservative in the state. Horner now picks up those voters, and the MN GOP is left with just their hardcore, delusional base.

That's the bed Sutton and his cohorts made. Why should they complain now that they lie in it?
