"The Republican National Convention in 2008 was a shining example of the tenuous line between activism and homegrown terrorism, and one of the most influential events in modern Minnesota history.
Among the thousands of protesters who converged on St. Paul were two friends from Midland, Texas, who were unhappy with the U.S. invasion of Iraq. Believed to be following the advice of their mentor and world-renowned leftist activist Brandon Darby, the two hatched a plan to bomb the convention, only to have it scrapped before it began.
Directors Kelly Duane de la Vega and Katie Galloway present a multi-faceted look at the friends’ notorious trial and controversial entrapment defense. Utilizing a combination of found footage and startling narrative twists that dramatically alter the viewer’s perspective of the events, this intricate and controversial tale comes to life with compelling intensity.
Kelly de la Vega & Katie Galloway, both Emmy-nominated directors, were selected for the 2009 HBO Documentary Film Fellowship Grant, worth $10,000, to complete their film."
