Monday August 29, 2011 Protest from 11AM - 1PM at the School of Law · University of St. Thomas · Minnesota 1000 LaSalle Avenue · Minneapolis , Minnesota 55403-2015 . On St. Thomas Law School ’s first day of fall classes, we are continuing with our call for the school to live up to its mission and vision statements, by asking for the resignation of Professor Robert Delahunty. While employed by the Office of Legal Counsel, Delahunty wrote certain legal memos with John Yoo, that claimed the Geneva Conventions no longer applied to the “war on terror” which enabled the Bush administration to proceed with torture. Ironically Delahunty teaches classes on international law and constitutional law. Although St. Thomas has awarded him their “teacher of the year” award, he besmirches the reputation of St. Thomas University and the legal profession with his actions legalizing torture upon those captured who are "non-state actors", through his claims that treaties prohibiting torture only apply to regular state sponsored military! Mission Statement The University of St. Thomas School of Law , as a Catholic law school, is dedicated to integrating faith and reason in the search for truth through a focus on morality and social justice.
