Earlier Sunday, authorities took down and confiscated 28 tents erected on the south side of the plaza, climbing over protesters circling the tents to do so, according to protesters and authorities. No one was arrested during that action, which took place a little after 1 a.m.

The protesters had set up the tents, some of them translucent plastic over wooden frames (made of materials purchased at Home Depot, protesters said), on Saturday evening despite authorities' earlier threat to arrest them if tents were erected and allowed concealed activity.

"In each meeting, the rules have been explained; no tents, tarps or other structures are allowed to be put up by individuals, due to the obvious public safety risks posed by such structures."

Being exposed to the rain and cold is safer than being in a tent, according to Rich Stanek.
