My girlfriend is Laotian...she's not Hmong, but the Hmong are a subset ethnic group that feel themselves different from the rest of the Laotians (like Tibetans in China). This really hits close to home...who is the ass that is doing this. I'd like to make a phone call...

I think that MSU is made up of more liberal minded students, but the ones who aren't are just f'ing morons.

We had a party on Friday night and I met a few guys that live with another buddy of mine, and we were hanging out in my room. One of them was talking about hunting and I said how I don't like guns, I don't like to be around them, etc. and he said some snide remark about my K/E stickers/pins I had in my room. I said "what?" and he said, "oh nothing."

I really would have liked to catch that comment...

...and there were certain parts of Mankato that were downright scary for a non-townie to go.

However, at the same time, there were also some very cool places that were very welcoming-- Ernie November's music/head shop and Vin Long's Vietnamese restaurant in particular.

And of course there's the Albatross, or the "Tross" as it was called. A great place to spot drunken Vikings during training camp. I had a college buddy who saw ex-Viking Keith Millard leave the Tross and totally trash his Trans-Am on some railroad ties in the Hardee's drive-thru. Just another overpaid moran.
