Coleman explains his support for the war on Iraq in constituent letter

Thank you for taking the time to contact me concerning Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Each day, America's men and women in uniform in Iraq are selflessly serving their nation. Working side by side with Iraqis, American and Coalition forces are establishing law and order and bringing stability and democracy to Iraq . As we pursue these goals, foreign terrorists and insurgents continue their attacks. They believe that by attacking, they can disrupt elections and end the democratic process. They are mistaken.

It is with a heavy heart that I receive continued reports of Americans being killed in Iraq. Their heroic sacrifice cannot be forgotten. We must stay committed to defeating the terrorists to win the peace in Iraq Only then, can we honor the memories of those brave soldiers who have paid the ultimate price to advance the cause of freedom.

On January 30, millions of Iraqis participated in a free election for the first time in their lives. They defied the threats of insurgents and were not deterred by attacks. Iraq's new National Assembly will serve as Iraq's legislature, choose a Transitional Government with executive powers, and draft a new constitution.

I recently traveled to Iraq where I visited with American and Iraqi officials about Iraq's politicial transition, the corruption of the U.N. Oil for Food program, U.S. service member needs, and progress in training Iraqi troops. The training of the Iraqi Army, National Guard and police forces to assume a greater burden for the security of Iraq will hasten the day American troops can come home. Day-by-day, Iraqi forces are making progress. Three top level associates of Al Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab Al- Zarqawi have been captured by Iraqi forces. While 44 people were killed during the election, Iraqi security forces demonstrated success in preventing insurgents from undermining the elections.

Under the President's leadership, the United States has contributed $24 billion for Iraq's reconstruction. These funds are managed by the Iraq Project and Contracting Office and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). Many projects are already making life better for the Iraqi people. Food and electricity are being distributed throughout the country. USAID is providing support to the Ministry of Trade to deliver more than 480,000 tons of food each month. Nearly 2,500 schools have been renovated and over 32,000 secondary school teachers have been trained. Health care funding has increased 30-fold since Iraq was freed. More than 30 million doses of children's vaccinations have been distributed. Over 1,200 primary health clinics and 240 Iraqi hospitals are in operation.

I am proud to support America's troops and I look forward to their return home when their mission is accomplished. America and every nation that stands for freedom and democracy will be forever in their debt.

1) Yeah, money escaped in the oil for food program. It also kept Saddam disarmed and pales compared to the 8.8 B-B-B-B-BILLION DOLLARS that Bremer lost.

2) The reason there were only 44 deaths on voting day is because the US put the entire fucking country on lockdown. No vehicles AT ALL, no border crossing AT ALL, frisking everyone. In other words, the proof that Iraqis love freedom comes from the fact we can turn the place into a prison for short periods of time. Then the next day, death as usual.
