ROD GRAMS TO RUN FOR SENATE
http://kstp.com/article/stories/S6189.html?cat=1

Former U.S. Sen. Rod Grams told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Wednesday that he will once again run for the U.S. Senate in 2006. His announcement came just hours after incumbent Sen. Mark Dayton said he would not be running for the seat.

Grams held the seat from 1994 to 2000. He lost the seat to Dayton in 2000.

3. BARF ALERT!!!!

Don't think his mother is around him anymore, since he married that skank. She is supposed to be a violent lunatic also... to say nothing of world-class ugly. Can you imagine him campaigning with THAT? Even the GOP can't stand her. I think his son is still on the slammer too. :-)

4. I absolutely loved how Grams paid for attorneys for his
thuggish son up until the last go 'round, then suddenly we the taxpayers got to pay for his defense! Good show Rod! Yes, his wife is also a piece of work.

7. Grams is probably broke
Evidently, from what I hear, the wife is not welcome back in DC, as she threatened or hit several VIPs. Geesh. And, to top it off, she is a 200 pound dog, lol.

5. Not likely to get GOP endorsement, but it would be great.
If Grams stays in race and wins primary, then Democrats can breathe easier. He would not win general election.

6. He won't get either
I have talked to some ardent Republicans, and even THEY don't want to vote for Rod this time, and they do mention the wife. Sad for us, but he won't even get the nom.

8. But he may drain votes from the person who gets the nomination??
That would be good.

9. If we were really lucky
the DFL will unite and not have any primary fights (Hey, I can dream). Then, we can cross over in the primary and vote for the Repuke of our choice. They've been doing that to us for years, it'd be nice to get a little payback.

11. Robert Novak on Grams
Edited on Sun Feb-13-05 03:55 AM by rodeodrive1
I'll bet it will be Kennedy. As I had said, not even staunch GOPers want anything to do with Grams. Take a gander at THIS from Novak, of all people:

The leading Republican is Rep. Mark Kennedy, who last November survived a strong Democratic challenge. GOP leaders dread the prospect that former Sen. Rod Grams, beaten by Dayton in 2000, may run again.

13. Great idea.....
But, Grams would never do it. Not even the Independents would have him, lol. He has NO support, no where. The hard-core Republicans loathe him, too.

14. He tried this before
Grams was thinking of running in 2002 for the Senate seat.... but was persuaded not to. It will happen again, count on it. He won't even get near the endorsement.
