1. I bet we subscribe to the same newslists.....
I saw this one this morning, and am seriously considering supporting Phil.

I met him a number of times last year, when I was working for the Kucinich campaign. He's a very thoughtful, well-spoken person who would be a TRUE alternative to the status-quo politician.

Phil's voice deserves to be heard. I hope he steps up.

2. the Progressive Caucus is discussing him, too
I've heard Phil a few times. He's definately worth looking at. Today I feel more optimistic and I think we have a number of good people to consider. Bless Dayton for announcing his plans early.

Its going to be an internal battle between progressives and the more traditional Dems. It'll be interesting for sure.

3. The Progressive Caucus would be better off backing a real pol
Phil is a nice speaker and a good organizer.

Running Phil would, however, give a bunch of people an excuse to bail when he doesn't get the nomination, and then the PC would have to deal with the Green-DFL split that would result.

The best thing that could happen regarding the PC's contribution to this campaign is for them to find a tested politician with good credentials that everyone could get around, and then slowly move the party toward that person.

Becky Lourey is the kind of dark horse candidate that I think the PC could rally around.

4. Hadn't thought about Lourey before
...but she'd be a BETTER candidate at this stage in the game. She's solid DFL, but also as progressive as they come. She's also non-metro area, IIRC.

Wonder if she's interested?
