2000 DFL Senate Race candidates

Dayton's recent announcement and the ensuing speculation about possible candidates, got me thinking about the 2000 contest.

There were at least seven major DFL candidates for US Senate:

Mike Ciresi
Mark Dayton
Jerry Janezich
Steve Kelley
David Lillehaug
Steve Miles
Rebecca Yanisch

The DFL endorsed Jerry Janezich; and Kelley, Lillehaug and Miles respected the endorsement and bowed out. Endorsed candidate Janezich then found himself in four way race against Yanisch and millionaires Ciresi and Dayton. Dayton won primary and beat Grams.
