They want that seat, and will put everything they have to work to get it. They want to punoish Dayton and Minnesota.
It would seem that their hunger to win would make it even more essential to keep Dayton in that seat. Grassroots fundraising and political action is what it will take to achieve a victory over the Rove machine and send it home with its tail between its legs.

There's Moveon as well. They raised nearly $900,000 for Wellstone in
just 24 hrs in 2002.

However, Dayton is not Wellstone. He's rich, not poor. He spent 12 million of his own on his 2000 race and is unable/unwilling to do that again. Plus they think it'll take about 30 million for him to keep the seat and he's been able to raise only a pittance this last year.

was absolutely brilliant. Somebody has to be able to tell the truth. She lied along with Bush, Cheney and the rest. And now the 911 Commission finds that she was incompetent in addressing the threat of terrorism in the months leading up to 911. She is an embarrassment to the country and Mark had courage to say so.

I think he was being told that the DFL big money folks needed him to show he was going to be a "team player" and after skewering Rice, he had to balance that with bucking up our own internal Republican, Randy Kelly.

I think he took one look at where that was going to drag him, what he thought it was going to do to his sanity, effectiveness, and mission, and said, "Fuck it."

Good for him, I think as a lame duck he's going to be our most effective advocate in the Senate. I think every single one of us should call him and tell him that we are ready to do whatever he tells us to do to take on the BFEE.

Mark Dayton has been good Liberal Senator. He has represented us well, and has Stood UP against the BFEE when it would have easier to just lay down (like so many others).
He has made HIS decision for whatever HIS reasons may be.
