Congressman Sabo to host meeting on Social Security 2/24
Sabo has a good sense of humor or must be bored inviting the founder of the Center of the American Experiment!!??!! Bleecchh!http://www.amexp.org/

It might be worthwhile to go and see what is shared.
Also, I didn't know Skip was now head of AARP Minnesota. I was wondering what he's been up to the last few years.

Dear DFLers,

This Thursday evening, Congressman Martin Olav Sabo will hold a panel discussion on the important topic of Social Security. As the national political spotlight has focused on this issue, Congressman Sabo wanted to offer information and discussion to anyone who would like to learn more. He will be joined by two other panelists, Hubert Humphrey III, State President of AARP Minnesota, and Dr. Mitch Pearlstein, Founder and President Emeritus of the Center of the American Experiment. Congressman Sabo hopes the evening will provide lively discussion from each of these points of view. There will be an opportunity for the audience to submit questions.

“Being a senior used to be synonymous with being poor. Social Security changed that. Today we don’t have a problem paying Social Security benefits, and the system is not in crisis. We can fix the longer term problem without dismantling the system as we know it.”
– Congressman Sabo

Come learn about how the Social Security benefits you’ve earned could be threatened by proposed changes.

1. Center of the American Experiment
Is this the new progressive organization that Al Franken referenced last week on his show?

3. Pearlstein
Mitch Pearlstein is Founder and President Emeritus of Center of the American Experiment, a nonpartisan, tax-exempt, public policy and educational institution that brings conservative and free-market ideas to bear on the hardest problems facing Minnesota and the nation. A think tank, for short.
Dr. Pearlstein is chairman of the St. Paul-based Partnership for Choice in Education, a member of the Hubert H. Humphrey Institute Advisory Council, and a member of the University of St. Thomas Public Policy Advisory Committee. He previously served as a member of the Citizens League Higher Education Study Committee, the Aspen Institute's Domestic Strategy Group, and the Steering Committee of Minnesotans for Major League Baseball. He is a co-founder of the Washington-based Center for New Black Leadership.

He is married to the Rev. Diane Darby McGowan, a hospital chaplain and deacon at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Minneapolis. They live in Minneapolis.
