Rep. Jim Ramstad has an op-ed in the Minneapolis Star Tribune, saying
that Democrats should compromise with the Republicans on Social Security and other matters.

http://www.startribune.com/stories/562/5254967.html

I wrote the newspaper a letter that Democrats shouldn't compromise.

If you'd like to as well, then write:
opinion@startribune.com

and include your full name and address and phone number.

A short letter has a better chance of Star Trib. publicaation than a long letter.

4. Ok
here is a small contribution.

Subj: Too much at stake... pardon my laughter.

There is too much at stake for Democrats not to fight like hell against the complete dismantling of the social contract in favor of
social darwinism.

The NeoCons have started a class war, but progressives will finish it.

5. Jim Ramstad: ICK
The republicans like to claim that he is RINO, but from everything I've seen of him as my rep., he rightwing republican all the way.

Like when people say CNN is worse than FOX, because everyone knows how bad FOX is, but CNN tries to appear fair, while shilling for the rightwing the whole time.

If anyone tries to tell you Ramstad is fair, or tries to see both sides, don't believe them. He is a republican with a capital R.

6. Wellstone approved
I believe one of the reasons I feel Ramstad must be an OK guy is that my beloved Paul Wellstone thought so. Of course, that was then and this is now, maybe it is time to revamp my opinion if he's on the bandwagon with this forced Social Security thing.

8. I agree. Ramstad has a reputation for moderation, but
I'm not aware of any big votes in which he voted against the Bush agenda.

If someone can name one, please do.

9. As far as I know, Ramstad drank the Kool-Aid
He used to be a moderate and I think most people still believe he is, but the last couple years he's been bad. If the 3rd District DFL were smart, they'd find a candidate and start campaigning NOW and start tying Jimbo to Bush.

10. Well, it isn't short. Think it will make it?
Respectfully, Mr. Ramstad, WE THE PEOPLE like our Democratic Reps and Senators just fine the way they are. They are the minority party. Isn't it enough for you and your party that you can make every vote go your way just by voting along party lines?

Our Reps and Senators are speaking up because WE THE PEOPLE are DEMANDING in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that they do. We don't like the direction your party is taking OUR country and you know what? We live here too. We still have rights to representation.

I agree that Congress and the President need to work together for the good of the country but before you go pointing the finger at how the Democrats behave look at your own party.

If your party is so interested in Homeland Security then why is it all talk? The Democrats have tried again and again to get funds for First Responders. The Democrats want Chemical Plant Security increased a great security loophole, but instead you want to build barriers to keep the Mexicans out? Where are the programs that really protect WE THE PEOPLE in the budget that the Republican run House and Senate pushed through?

Yes, "preserve Social Security" and when someone figures out a better plan than the one it was created under, THEN change it. Do not throw away MY future Mr. Ramsted because your President demands loyalty above intelligent discourse and honest long range planning.

Maybe you really are honestly looking for common ground or maybe you just want the noise to stop so you can get the job done that the President demands and go home. If the second is the case, "get over it."

Because the noise is NOT going to stop, Mr. Ramsted. It's all we have left of equal representation under the law. You see there is a difference in finding common ground and telling the Democrats that the ground beneath the Republican party's feet is where they belong.

Until your party respects WE THE PEOPLE of the United States of America and quits acting like your party can do everything their way and tell us to just sit down and shut up, then don't expect to seriously believe that you have the right to invoke the name of John Kennedy.

The Democrats want to do God's work in this land and they will fight the Republicans tooth and nail to get that job done. We've got a history of feeding His sheep. Have you?
