Former Republican Gov. "Whup Ass" Fordice passed away a couple.... |

of days ago from leukemia. I understand that his body is to lie in state in the rotunda of the capitol.
Does anyone else remember him telling Bert Case that he would "whup" Case's ass when Case was investigating Fordice's trip to Memphis to be with his mistress?
It's sad that he has passed away, but he did more than any other person to push Mississippi back to the dark ages.

Fordice ran a racist campaign in 1991 attacking "welfare abusers" and "racial quotas", and we know what that means when it's a white conservative in Mississippi saying those things.
He also said that prison inmates (most of whom are black in Mississippi) should be "back in the cotton fields generating a cash crop." He also opposed renewing the Voting Rights Act of 1965
In 1992 he called the US a "Christian nation".
It's regrettable that he never apologized for any of this before he died.

2. Exactly. He never found the redemption that G. Wallace found. |
|
And redemption is based on admitting mistakes and asking for forgiveness.
BSG, I often appreciate your input on Southern politics. I am sure you are aware that the present gov is every bit as racist as the one we had in the 1990s. :(
