WHEN: Tuesday, May 24, from noon to 1:30 p.m.

WHAT: To discuss Saudi Arabia's most recent actions to combat terrorism, promote internal reform and its efforts to stabilize oil prices, Nail Al-Jubeir, Director of the Information Office of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, D.C. will be in Jackson on May 24.

Members of the media are invited to this unique opportunity to hear about the reforms and advances underway in the Kingdom and a current assessment of the U.S./Saudi alliance.

About Nail Al-Jubeir:

Nail Al-Jubeir was born near Riyadh and received a B.A. in Political Science and an M.A. in International Affairs from American University's School of International Service in 1985 and 1987, respectively.

Al-Jubeir joined the staff of Saudi Arabia's Information Office in Washington D.C. in 1989 as a Senior Information Officer, supervising the collection and dissemination of information about the Kingdom. He subsequently became a senior research analyst, responsible for U.S. domestic political issues and the monitoring of news reports. During the 1990-91 Operation Desert Shield/Desert Storm campaign, he was assigned to the team establishing the Joint Information Bureau that became the media center in Dhahran.

In 1997, he joined the Saudi Arabian Foreign Service and served in the Office of the Assistant Minister for Political Affairs in Riyadh until his posting to the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Washington, D.C.

1. The Saudis benefit from the "old days" when the USA was only
for 'strongmen' who gave big Oil great Oil deals.

Will be fun to see Bush & his pals negotiate & negotiate plans for 'democracy'. Like two robbers - sitting by a pile of cash - and 'sussing' each other out as to how much each of them should get!

Neocon imposed market laws try to make countries pay for any laws they put into place that regulates their markets (and go against corporate interests). The big business wants to dominate each 'separate country'. Instead of imperialism..it is corporatism. I wonder what 'kid gloves' the Saudis are under. Is the US trying to steal their seeds? Will be interesting to see. And a good foil to the demands for free market economy the US makes in real democracies the world over.

How can you slime Venezuela and not complain about the Saudis?

Hypocrisy at every turn.
