http://www.clarionledger.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20050630/NEWS01/506300395/1002Beginning in 2006, most Mississippians will be casting ballots on new touch-screen voting machines.
The machines will replace a hodgepodge of methods, including lever machines, punch-card machines and scanner machines, used now in most Mississippi counties.
Secretary of State Eric Clark announced Wednesday the state has contracted with Diebold Election Systems Inc. to supply 5,164 new touch-screen machines at $15 million. "These voting machines will greatly improve the accuracy and integrity of every election in Mississippi," Clark said.
