Gen. Wesley Clark speaks to Mississippi Democratic Party Associated Press
JACKSON, Miss. - Gen. Wesley Clark, who competed as an underdog candidate in the race for a Democratic presidential nomination, rallied with energetic Mississippi Democrats Friday in support of Sen. John Kerry's presidential campaign.
"We are going to start a song tonight. We are going to take it all the way across this nation. We are going to put John Kerry in the White House," he said bringing the crowd to their feet.
Clark the retired four-star general, received five standing ovations at the party's 23rd annual Jefferson-Jackson-Hamer Dinner at the Clarion Hotel.
"It says in the good book know the truth and the truth will set you free. Well, let me tell you what the truth is. The truth is George W. Bush is going to lose in November," he forcefully said.
"And the even greater truth is this: John Kerry is going to win and is going to win because he deserves to win in November. The bottom line - America simply can't afford four more years of George W. Bush.
