Cutting Medicaid
I have lived in Webb City almost one year, having moved here from Oregon to be close to my youngest daughter and her family. But I'm disabled and live on a very low income of less than $600 a month. I didn't ask to be in this position, but here I am! And I am well aware that I speak for many others who are in the same boat.
Day-to-day life is very difficult at best and now Gov. Blunt wants to make huge cuts in Medicaid. What are we to do? I live on about seven prescriptions, and I depend on additional medical supplies each month. These are items I have to have to live. And if these necessities are cut, what am I to do, die? This is a form of genocide, the way I see it.
I never thought this country would do this, since we have no problem sending billions of dollars to others all over the world. I don't understand how our government can be so eager to deny its own poor citizens even the basic needs for a meager life.
It would do Gov. Blunt a lot of good to live a while in our shoes. He might realize what he is doing to us. Maybe he would develop some compassionate concern for those of us who are in such great need.
I believe that if this country is going to profess to being such a caring, concerned world citizen they had better start showing a great deal more compassionate concern for those of us who are at the bottom of the rung right here in the U.S.A.
