Many members of the Democratic Party in McDonald County, Mo. are planning to vote in the Republican Primary election in August in order to help vote out some Republicans who have a strangle-hold on county political positions. Joye Helm, who has held the county clerk position for several terms, is running on the Republican ticket for County Treasurer. Helm, who is the daughter-in-law of the late Lloyd Helm, who ran Republican politics in the county for decades, is opposed in the primary, but has no Democrat opposition in November. it is very important to oust Helm, as she showed her inability to handle county funds as County Clerk when she made grave errors when overseeing a special election for school board funding a few years ago -- an error that cost the county thousands of dollars. Do we want a person like this in charge of county funds? Also, Helm is seeking to seat in the County Clerk's position her deputy, Barbara Williams. Williams must be ousted, as well. There is no primary fight on the local Democratic Ticket.
