Putting an end to “sweet deals and corruption” in Jefferson City would be a top priority for Mike Evans as Missouri’s lieutenant governor.
The 29-year-old former Army intelligence analyst and small business owner stopped in Sedalia Thursday as part of a two-day campaign kickoff tour across the state that included planned stops in Joplin, Jefferson City and Columbia. Evans will likely face a primary battle with Creve Coeur Democrat Sam Page, who represents the 82nd legislative district. The Democratic candidate will then face Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, who is in his first term, in the 2008 general election.
“I’m here to tell you that it is time to turn this state around, and to have someone as lieutenant governor that is part of the solution, not part of the problem,” Evans told a dozen Pettis County Democrats.
