The Pettis County Democrats are hosting a New Years Eve party at the historic Bothwell Hotel in Sedalia.
http://www.hotelbothwell.com/ Harry Truman announced his senatorial run at the Bothwell Hotel, and attended many events in the same ballroom we've reserved for the party, so it seemed like a great way to kickoff the 2008 campaign year. The Hotel has given us a block of rooms at half price (the costs will range from $39.00 for an original, historically correct room, to $89.00 for a room with all the extras). The chef from Ivory Grill is catering the event, and he'll be serving filet mignon, shrimp, and all the other good stuff that goes with it. We have a band coming from Warrensburg that plays decade/dance music, and a trivial pursuit tournament going on for those who don't like to dance. There will be free champagne at midnight, and a cash bar for the rest of the evening. The tickets are a little expensive-$75.00 per person-but I think it will be worth the money.
If you're interested, send me a PM, or e-mail me at wjmonsees@charter.net I apologize for not giving much notice, but we'd love to have you there!
(I almost forgot-the event has been advertised as 'semi-formal'. As far as I'm concerned, semi-formal means the pair of jeans without the hole, but I suppose it's supposed to mean black tie or tux for guys, and evening wear or cocktail dresses for women. Just thought it might be important to mention that!)
