Let's talk November Ballot

Constitutional Amendments:

1: English Language

Seems sort of stupid to put in Constitution--Seems like an effort to get Republicans stirred up to vote, but I don;t think it will work.

4: Financing of Stormwater Control Projects.

I don't have enough info on this. The wording is weird. Bottom line I'd rather have good sewers than saving money, but it is unclear is this is a better way to do things, or if dealing with storm water will be hindered.

Propositions:

a: Gambling Loss Limits.

I don't gamble. I don;t care. Should I (care, not Gamble)?

b: Care for elderly in house.

I am not sure this is really the state's requirement to care for the elderly in homes they refuse to sell. But I am leaning towards supporting this.

c: Renewable energy

Fuck yeah!

It looks pretty good on the surface.

Here is what it says: "The Statutory Amendment to the Revised Statues of Missouri Relating to Home Care (2008-025) is an initiated state statute that would amend Missouri law to establish the Missouri Quality Homecare Council. The Quality Homecare Council would ensure the availability of home care services to the elderly under the Medicaid program by recruiting, training, and stabilizing the home care workforce. The annual cost of the program has been estimated at $510,560.

On August 5, the Missouri Secretary of State announced that the measure will appear on the state's November 4, 2008 ballot.<1>,<2>"

and "the Ballot Initiative Strategy Center, a national organization that advocates for liberal ballot measures, has written that "progressives should feel good" about the initiative.<4>"

I'm a little more leery of this (even as a teacher!) because the ballot wording was written by someone from Ameristar Casino, who of course benefits from passage of this initiative. Plus, not all school districts will gain from this:

4. I am displeased with Chris Koster for AG

I don't know what to do. I want to vote for the Dem, of course, but he used to be a Republican not that long ago.

There isn't an alternative for me, is there?
