Veterans Commemorative Park - "Bullets do not identify skin colors"
<snip> CROW AGENCY - World War II veterans, children in battle fatigues, re-enactors in uniforms of the 7th Cavalry and Native American women in elk-tooth dresses all mingled at the dedication of the Veterans Commemorative Park Friday.

<snip> "We all come together from different tribes, different ethnic groups and different cultural backgrounds," Crow Tribal Chairman Carl Venne told those gathered Friday. "We all come together as one."

<snip> Groups from diverse backgrounds gathered earlier for a parade that went through town and ended at the new park.

<snip> Bullets, Venne said, do not identify skin colors.

The families of the two MT men who fell in Iraq, PFC Owen Witt and 1st Lt. Matthew Saltz, were guests at the dedication, as was the family of Pfc. Lori Piestewa, a 23-year-old Hopi woman who was killed in an ambush March 23, 2003, in Iraq.

The Crow Tribe's Iraq War leader led a pipe ceremony for bringing together the tribes and to recognize the families of the fallen soldiers.

"That flag has always had an American Indian standing under it," Old Coyote said. "From here, let's face a good future."

I will add my prayer that together, they all heal and regain strength.

Peace, something warriors probably value more than those who sit at desks and fail at the job of diplomacy, to all the warriors of all colors of all the wars.

Peace, strength and our support to the warriors.
