Montana girls edge boys in ACT scores ("first time ever")

HELENA — For the first time ever, Montana's female high school graduates outscored their male counterparts on the 2004 ACT college entrance exam, state education officials announced today.

And Montana's 2004 high school graduates again scored above the national average among students in other states who took the ACT. Montana's students scored an average 21.7 points on the test, above the national average of 20.9 points.

The test's maximum score is 36, which two Montana students earned this year. ..

But neighboring states South Dakota, Wyoming, Idaho and North Dakota all scored below Montana. ...

1. It is obvious to me that the girls have been holding back.
You know what boys are like in red states. They want us out sweeping the porch like Barbara.
