Sheriff of Musselshell County ousted by almost a 2 to 1 margin. Used county credit card to fuel his personal vehicle; made 700 calls on Dept. cell phone to home of female dispatcher. Yes, good solid Republican values, abuse public resources, make silly excuses to call female subordinate at home hundreds of times. Glad they tossed his ass.
Adios Sheriff<snip> Malone was accused this winter of using a county credit card to put $132 worth of fuel his personal vehicle during a trip in October 2003. Malone said he reimbursed the county and had used the card because he inadvertently left his personal bank card behind in a rush to leave.
<snip> He was also accused of using a county cell phone to make calls to a female dispatcher at her home between May and October of 2003. Malone offered to repay any phone expenses, but said the more than 700 calls were regarding disgruntled county employees. </snip>
Seven hundred calls about disgruntled county employees?!? Wow, that must be a whole lotta disgruntled cuz Musselshell County is not like some teeming metropolis with a huge population :eyes: Yeah, sure Malone, you two were discussing disgruntled employees
700 times in two years. Abusing public resources, hitting on a subordinate
and complete failure at coming up with an interesting or believable lie to cover. This man will not go far in the GOP if he doesn't improve his cover stories.
I recall an awful lot of signs during the 02 campaign when traveling through Roundup. Thought, here is a town in the midst of a power struggle of some sort and guessed there was a
good ol boy verses
clean up the place sort of thing going on in the sheriff's dept. Signs looked pretty contentious back then.
And the Gazette doesn't get around to mentioning Malone's party affiliation until the last sentence.
What a surprise! </sarcasm>
<snip> A former reserve deputy for the county, Malone was elected in a three-way race in November 2002 after beating the incumbent sheriff in a Republican primary election.
