Summer enrollment at the University of Montana decreased from 3349 last summer to 3210 this summer (a 4% decline), while Full-time equivalents dropped to 1186 from 1388 (14.5% down).
Quoting the university newsletter (the Forum): "the president speculated that the economic recovery in progress and the chance to earn money to pay expenses during the academic year may well have influenced students to work rather than enroll in courses."
