So has Max Baucus just become a Republican.....
kissass or is he ever going to reclaim his once progressive ideals?

It seems to me that ever since Wellstone died, Baucus has lost his cojones, not to mention he is one of the worst public speakers ever. He at least used to have the voting record to counter his lack of speaking skills. His prescription drug vote soured me on him for a long time. I lost a lot of faith on that day.

1. So are you the one to challenge him in the primaries next time?

2. Not everyone should run for office
but that doesn't mean they aren't entitled to their opinion.

I agree about the Senator. The responses I get from his office (WHEN I get one) are weeks after the fact and have yet to have anything to do with what I asked about. In frustration, I sometimes write to my former Senator, always beginning with "Although I no longer reside in Arizona..." Never failed to get a prompt, on subject, and thoughtful response from the gentleman from AZ, and I am not talking Kyl. Maybe the poor communication I get from Baucus is a staff problem, but I don't like the votes cast of late either and that is NOT a staff thing.

When I lived in Montana years ago, I did local work for Baucus. I won't do it again. I do believe we would be better served by a different Democratic candidate. Max just doesn't seem to be that interested in actively working with constituents and that is not good. He seems to have joined the ranks of the rubber stamp legislators and the nation needs Senators to be more than that. Rolling over and playing dead is not an option with the Cheney junta in DC.

And being snarky to the original poster was not constructive. If we want to increase the count on the Dem side of the isle, we need to listen when there are concerns about what has been, and is being, done by those we elect. To give snarky responses to legitimate concerns will not win us new friends and may lose us old ones. Listening and giving thought to critism is often painful but ususally wise. How else are we gonna know what people want, need, feel?

3. Amazing how easy it is to be misunderstood around here.
I never meant to imply that the original poster wasn't entitled to their opinion, nor do I disagree with anything he said, nor with anything you have said other than your attack on me.

Certainly not everyone should run for office - that is why I am not mounting a campaign to unseat Baucus. However, there are many people who would make an excellent Senator, who have never considered the possibility. I didn't mean to be 'snarky' nor did I mean to criticize the other poster in any way, shape or form. I simply asked So are you the one to challenge him in the primaries next time? -- because we really do need someone to challenge him in the primaries and I was hoping that maybe the other poster was the one to do it.

4. The guy is in Tucson AZ, (you can check his profile)
so he isn't able to run, and your post was pretty abrupt. Might wanna try a bit more expansive reply if your intent is to stimulate candiacy.

I think it's funny that he is in Tucson, commenting on a MT senator and I lived in Tucson for years before moving back to MT, where I have to write to an AZ senator if I want to get any sort of thoughtful response. Max is slipping and it worries me

5. Max is a big disappointment to me
so I ask practically everyone I meet to challenge him, lol.

I think it is the fact that I actively campaigned for him that irks me so much.
