and it went something like this:
Dear Senator Nelson, I was very distressed by your recent commercial stating you wanted to cut taxes more and eliminate the "death tax" In the first place we simply cannot cut taxes anymore with our current deficit. I realize you are running for re-election in a conservative state, but I have never in my life seen an extremely popular incumbent trying to get re-elected by attempting to fool the voters into thinking that he is just like the challenger. Why, instead of pandering the those who are uneducated on the estate tax, don't you try to do something constructive to help people understand the issue? Repealing this tax is the kind of thing that will help factory farms that hurt farmers much more than an estate tax that will never touch the vast, vast majority of farmers. If a family that farms the whole county has to sell off a farm to pay estate taxes, what's the big deal? Now maybe two people have a chance to have a successful farming operation. Furthermore, if we repeal the estate tax, then instead of going after Paris Hilton for the money, the government will have to go after everyone else - including people like me struggling to get by on 25K a year. I am appalled that you think we sent you to Washington to cut Paris Hilton's taxes. Please don't sell out Nebraska like you did on CAFTA and the bankruptcy bill. I urge you to help Nebraska working families by voting to keep the estate tax. Please take the advice of someone who voted for you in the past and plans on voting for you in the future: stand up for the people and not the powerful.
