Democratic presidential candidate and Connecticut Sen. Christopher Dodd will be in Council Bluffs on Saturday afternoon.
And he's bringing Paul Simon with him to perform a free mini-concert.
The multiple Grammy-winning singer-song-writer and one-half of Simon & Garfunkel will join Dodd for the last two days of an Iowa bus tour. The 63-year-old lawmaker is traveling the state through Saturday.
Taylor West, Dodd's press secretary in Iowa, said Simon is a longtime friend and supporter of the senator's.
"This will be the first time he has come on the trail with him," she said.
The event takes place at Narrows River Park from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. After Dodd's speech, Simon will play three or four songs. A meet and greet will follow.
Spectators are welcome to bring lawn chairs or blankets. The park is on North 25th Street in Council Bluffs, just off Interstate 29, exit 55. In case of rain, the event will be moved to Abraham Lincoln High School.
West said Saturday's turnout depends on the weather and other factors but predicted that a few hundred people probably would attend.
