let's get up to date on 2008 Senate rumors

I think Hagel ultimately will run. Whether he can defeat Brunning, we will see. Hal Daub is a not starter IMO.

On the D side, I'm not sure how seriously to take Bob Kerrey. I suppose he could run, probably not if Hagel stays though. Fehey won't run. If Kerrey doesn't run, I think Kleeb will. Either way, I believe we will have a formidable candidate in 2008. Of course, this is just my speculation. Does anyone actually know anything about this?

1. Hagel Running

If Hagel runs, I think he can defeat Brunning. Brunning is running, so far, an ideologically driven campaign... and I don't think the people of Nebraska really care for ideologues. They do like their Senators to have independent thoughts.

However, it is ***SAD*** that we're talking about the Republicans here and not a Democratic challenger. It is unfortunate that the Democrats are so weak and unorganized that we cannot even talk about a serious challenger to either of these Republican candidates.
