U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson and other Nebraska Democrats helped launch a voter registration drive designed to beef up support for presidential candidate Barack Obama.
The event, held Saturday at the former Antiquarium bookstore in Omaha's Old Market, was part of a 50-state voter registration drive aimed at the November general election. The deadline to register for Tuesday's Nebraska primary has passed.
Nelson said excitement for Obama has inspired more people to get involved in the political process.
About 30 people, including some candidates for office, attended the kickoff, which was followed by a training session for volunteers.
