I just contributed to Kleeb's campaign. If anyone was thinking about contributing to a campaign here in Nebraska, I urge you to contribute to this one. Kleeb is the kind of independent thinker we need in the Senate representing us and Johanns is the epitome of what is wrong with Nebraska politics and US politics in general. If Scott can get his message to enough people, I think he will have a chance.
http://www.nebraskademocrats.org/blog/1513/rasmussen-polls-nebraskaRasmussen polled the Senate race, showing Mike Johanns with a 55-40 lead over Scott Kleeb among Nebraska voters.
While 15 points is certainly a significant margin to overcome, Johanns only gathering 55% support after being in politics for so long is an encouraging sign. Johanns is a known quantity – and 45% of Nebraska’s voters don’t think he’d make a good Senator. Expect that number to rise as information about his intimate ties to the Bush administration begins to come out.
Rasmussen also polled the Presidential race, showing a 50-39 advantage for John McCain over Barack Obama. Once again, though, a deeper look into the numbers shows an opportunity for Nebraska Democrats:
Just 17% of Nebraska voters believe the United States is heading in the right direction. Seventy-seven percent (77%) say the nation has gotten off on the wrong track.
As voters come to understand that John McCain is part of the reason that our country is on the wrong track – and that he’s not the “maverick” people still believe he is – then those numbers will come down. Also, we only have incomplete data, so Obama may be winning or within the margin in one or two Congressional Districts, putting Nebraska’s electoral votes in play.
