Family of injured woman thanks good Samaritan
Family members of the woman who was traumatically injured in a weekend accident would like to find the man who they say saved the woman’s life.
Danielle Dischinger, 26, was hit in the leg by a car outside a Kum & Go in northwest Omaha early Sunday. Police arrested 20-year-old Andrew Dragon after the accident. Police said Dischinger and occupants of Dragon’s vehicle got into a fight and that Dragon then struck her with the car and fled.
Dragon has been charged with first-degree felony assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony.
Dischinger’s mother and sister held a press conference Friday to thank the stranger who they said used his belt to tie a tourniquet on Dischinger’s leg, which her family said saved her life.
Dischinger was moved out of the intensive care unit Thursday and is currently in serious but stable condition. Family members said her spirits are good and she has been joking around.
Dischinger may still lose her leg and faces more surgery next week at Creighton University Medical Center.
