State Fair U.S. Senate Debate Available Statewide
The U.S. Senate debate sponsored by Nebraska Farm Bureau and the Rural Radio Network on Aug. 23 at the State Fair will be available to voters statewide, both in real time and later.
KRVN, Lexington, 880; KNEB, Scottsbluff, 960; and KTIC, West Point 840, will broadcast the debate live. KOLN-KGIN TV of Lincoln will stream video of the debate live on its website, www.kolnkgin.com. NET Radio will broadcast the debate on Sunday, Aug. 24, at 1 p.m. CDT; it also will be available from its website, www.netnebraska.org - click "listen now." The debate will be archived for listening at: www.netnebraska.org/extras/campaign08.
Republican Mike Johanns, Democrat Scott Kleeb and Green Party candidate Steve Larrick will participate in the debate, at the State Fair's Open Air Auditorium at 11 a.m. CDT. The debate is open to fair visitors.
Ken Rahjes, network ag broadcaster with KRVN will be the debate's moderator. Three veteran journalists will ask the questions: Leslie Reed, agriculture reporter for the Omaha World-Herald; Fred Knapp, reporter for NET Radio; and Jon Vanderford, news anchor for KOLN/KGIN. The candidates will answer questions and make closing remarks.
