Lick your lips, girls. George Clooney is coming to town.
George Clooney
The Oscar-winning bachelor will be filming in Omaha for three days sometime this spring on a movie that is principally being shot in St. Louis.
"Up in the Air," based on a novel by Walter Kirn, follows the story of a human resources administrator named Ryan Bingham (Clooney). He specializes in "career transition counseling," a euphemism for firing people, and he hates his job. His time in the friendly skies becomes his only world as he nears his goal of racking up 1 million frequent flyer miles.
His other goal is to land a job at the mysterious management company MythTech.
Bingham’s hometown is Omaha. The Omaha Convention and Visitors Bureau said one shooting location for the movie will be the Omaha Visitors Center, at 10th and Farnam Streets. Other locations in Omaha are being kept secret for now, along with the dates of filming.
The movie’s tentative release date is October 2009.
