Bennie, who used to lead the Lancaster County Republican Party, has helped organize tea party events in the state and chairman of the Lincoln tea party group.
The Ripleys said in their lawsuit that Bennie failed to disclose the unsuitable nature of the annuities and misled them about their ability to withdraw money without penalty and the costs of the annuities.
The suit said LPL failed in its fiduciary duty to investors because Bennie put his financial interests ahead of his clients' interests.
LPL reported to the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority that it terminated Bennie "for violating firm policies and procedures regarding obtaining client signatures on account documentation in that (Bennie) used copied customer signatures on original documentation."
"That is very strong language for this type of report," Gaba said. "Usually, firms say something vague like 'permitted to resign.'"
