I was blown away to find out my sister was on the panel! Kudos to her for bringing up the draft question (even though it's not mentioned in this article). Sis visited me this weekend and told me all about the whole episode, and how she got roped into the event because of her local notoriety and fight with the state for not releasing school funding that was promised (sound familiar?).
Secret Service, Photo ops, etc...my sister had a great time and a good laugh at the whole thing. Basically, she represented the Moms in the Reno area and spoke of their real concerns about the future. She and Elizabeth connected and hit it off wonderfully. They had a good conversation afterward that confirmed my sister's belief that Elizabeth is genuine and approachable - she's the real thing, and more.

In a round-table discussion before more than 500 supporters Tuesday, Elizabeth Edwards touted Democratic presidential nominee John KerryÕs education proposals and took jabs at Republicans in New York City to nominate President Bush for re-election.
In a campaign swing through Reno, the wife of vice presidential nominee John Edwards said the government must ensure a talented teacher leads every classroom and work to make college affordable to everyone, Ònot just for people who have the resources.Ó
ÒIt doesnÕt matter if you do everything else right, if you donÕt work together to make sure a great teacher is at the front of every classroom, then you fail,Ó she said.
To that end, she said Kerry has proposed paying teachers bonuses to work in under-served areas or who teach math and science.
For college students, she said Kerry has proposed a dollar-for-dollar tax credit for $4,000 in college tuition and to pay four years of tuition for students who volunteer for two years.
