Never seen anything like it. They didn't follow precinct and convention rules in 04 so today when we tried to hold an election by ballot for the first time every, the woman whose been in control for 25 years kept control with her force of biddies by picking their own convention "committeemen/women" and turned almost 40 people away and wouldn't let them vote.
People were making comments that they felt like the blacks in Florida as they got up and left the room. Never seen anything like it.
I was ready to switch parties today. Then I remembered how much I do enjoy DU sometimes ...
if I switched to Independent, could I still post here?

1. the Independent American Party |

is pretty right-wing. If you don't want to be registered Dem, you could register "non-partisan" or Green, that really pisses Dems off when you register Green.... hehe

2. I was thinking about registering Green but I live in a county of 50,000 |
|
people and there are less than 3,200 Dems on the voting rolls left after a recent purge. That means I am surrounded by right wing whack jobs and afraid for them to find out if I care about environmental issues that might stop mining.
This really is enemy territory up here. I can't join the enemy again. I tried that. I felt even dirtier than I do right now after that alleged Democrat meeting.
The Democrat Party in this State must be weak.

3. Register unaffiliated, |

you can't vote in our closed primaries (unless you play the change affiliation, vote, change affiliation game) but that's the only drawback. As to posting here -- I'm going to assume you're being silly. Democratic values come from the heart and the head, not from voter registration! :7

5. I'll agree with you there, after reading the article. |

She sounds like a real piece of work. I admire your determination to effect change from the inside; it's never easy to be that close to sleaze without risking having it get on you. I don't have your political commitment, which is why I have always refrained from registering with a political party. Stay strong and remember that the option of voting without commitment is open if you need it -- sometimes just knowing that an exit exists gives you the strength to stay in the room!

6. thanks, enlightenment, I'm still considering the non-partisan route |

funny you should mention "sleaze". Can't tell you how many people left that meeting and said they felt like they had slime all over them from being in the same room.
