LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA: Error puts initiative in jeopardy
An initiative seeking to legalize possession of up to 1 ounce of marijuana in Nevada could go up in smoke.

Petition organizers last week announced that they had submitted sufficient signatures to qualify the petition for the November ballot.

However, Billy Rogers, president of the political consulting firm seeking to qualify the petition, subsequently discovered a box of about 6,000 signatures that no one remembered to turn in.

Clark County Registrar Larry Lomax said Rogers contacted him by phone Saturday asking whether he could turn in the box, which contains signatures that were notarized before the June 15 deadline to submit initiative petitions.

1. You know what's funny.....
Is that the constituents of neither party support the drug war anymore. (The Freepers don't support the drug war. Some may, but most of them don't).. but yet for some reason no government official will recognize the vast majority of people who have realized it's a failure.

It's a total failure of leadership all the way around.. talk about a wasteful enterprise...

I think that it is so unbeleivable corrupt, that too many people are on the take to end the drug war...

Heyo

2. Probably not majority
Alaska is one of the most libertarian-leaning states, but even there a similar referendum failed in 2000.

3. "Probably not majority"
If we are honest about the results of the Alaska referendum it should be noted that not only would it have made marijuana legal for recreational use - it also would have authorized reparations for all marijuana users who had previously been arrested. It failed 39% to 61% but may have gone the other way if the part about reparations hadn't been included. It was a mistake to put reparations to marijuana smokers on the referendum.
