Spring Creek parent arrested in flap at Elko County School Board
ELKO, Nev. (AP) - A Spring Creek parent was arrested at the Elko County School Board's meeting after a shouting match over parental concerns about a variety of policies at Spring Creek High School.

Conni Tricoli, 47, was arrested at about 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on charges of disturbing a meeting and disturbing the peace. She was released from jail that night on $869 bail.

The incident erupted after School Board President Jon Karr recommended the board take no action on recent concerns raised on a host of issues, including a new rule that bans non-students from attending school dances at the high school and a prohibition on memorial at the school for students who have died.

Other concerns have targeted the locking of some school bathrooms, the shifting of commencement from the traditional Saturday morning to Thursday, loss of student parking and restrictions on homecoming traditions, including the school's bonfire.

The issues generated intense interest at past meetings, with long, emotional discussions and much public comment.

1. Sounds to me like Conni was in the right,
and was standing up on behalf of other concerned folk coming up against The Man.

Go Conni.

3. Conni was doing the right thing IMHO
She wasn't one of those fundie disruptors with the weekly suggested books to ban list in her hand.

4. okay, can we say a bit power-mad AND sexist here?
Joe Pouche charged the front of the school board's table and yelled at board members, including Elko County sheriff-elect Sgt. Dale Lotspeich, who asked Pouche and others to leave.

When Tricoli responded with an obscenity, Lotspeich told her he was placing her under arrest.

okay, let's see--a GUY CHARGES the table and yells, but nothing happens to him. then the WOMAN uses an obscenity, and the sheriff_ELECT (as in, he hasn't even been sworn in yet) arrests HER?

hmmmmmmmmm.
