You may recall that Barack Obama, very early in his career, began working with a coalition of churches to improve living conditions on the South Side of Chicago. That experience is dear to him and he spoke of it often on the campaign trail. After meeting so many Americans, face to face, Barack and Joe know that there is a strong feeling in America, a renewed sense of civic engagement. Here in New Hampshire, just before Thanksgiving in 2007, then Senator Obama met with supporters. He said; "I'll be visiting the New Horizons food pantry in Manchester, New Hampshire. And I encourage all Americans to do what they can every day to help those in need— because the best way to show our gratitude for what we have is by doing our part for those who have less."
As part of the response to President Elect Obama's and Vice President Elect Joe Biden's call, we will be returning to New Horizons and supporting a variety of other local causes and charities.
