I made the mistake tonight of answering a call that I really should not have. This was a call from a close relative who is very right leaning. I had made and received loads of calls pertaining to President Obama's inauguration. They were all filled with joy and relief! What a day yesterday was and today has been. Just knowing that we have an intelligent, compassionate, knowledgeable, sane, etc., etc., etc., person heading up our government just keeps that glow going. I was telling her how busy I have been with various things and among them talking with friends about how happy and relieved we were with President Obama's day and the events surrounding it. The reply was "Oh, well we'll see". Gee, try to contain your enthusiasm!
The discussion kind of 'fell' into other areas and one came up referring to traditions. So, I asked whose traditions would those be because one persons traditions are not everyone's traditions. We danced with that one for awhile and agreed that traditions clearly mean different things to different people, we arrived at this reluctantly on her part. Gee, those right-wingers just will not see any other way than their way, whatever it is.
So, I than asked how the ski weekend went and the reply was.......well, you know 'what holiday weekend it was and a 'different kind' of group of people were there this weekend and 'sniff' they were soooo rude. I couldn't talk with her any longer, such snobbery and we suffered don't you know...I don't think this will change, no matter what, with this particular family. It's so maddening and such small, very small, thinking. The problem is there just so many who are like this, let's hope they will eventually come around to at least close to center. I'm sending really positive thoughts and loads of positive energy their way. :grr:
