How was/is turnout in your areas? It was dead, dead, dead this evening when I went to vote. There was only one other person voting while I was there and two more showed up as I was leaving. Kind of sad, really.

1. Fairly quiet in Minneapolis,

but I went in the middle of the afternoon. When I drove by the rec center later, around 4:30, there were a lot more cars in front. The local election was kind of non-controversial, but I wanted to be sure to vote because our Repuke secretary of state, who is deeply evil, just instituted a new and controversial computerized voter list, and the morning paper urged everybody to vote today to be sure they were on the list on Nov. 2. We don't have BBVs yet, fortunately. But this is how evil this secretary of state is: MN is the *only* state where they sent out this "warning" to all the election judges to watch out for terrorists. It has been suggested that the Repubs are using these flyers to try to scare people away from the polls. Ya think??

2. I've been out "electioneering"

all day....I am SUNBURNED!!!!!!

Until 5PM, I was at the local middle school holding a sign for my state rep candidate. Traffic was slow, but steady. The City clerk said she is expecting 15%-20% turnout. That is better than usual on local primary with only one contested race.


I think turnout was enhanced HUGE controversy that arose just a week ago at the debate in city hall.

Keep in mind this is Massachusetts...so I'm sure you can make a pretty good guess about what the controversy is.

My candidate does not favor the constitutional amendment, the incumbent does. It has escalated into a personal, name calling, down and dirty shouting match, and has been front page, above the fold on Wed., Thurs, and Friday. This only stopped, I think, because our former, Long time (23 years) mayor died Saturday morning, and that now dominates the front pages.

It is really quite a cat fight. I'm LOVIN' IT!!!!!

3. I was at Ward 11

in Manchester from 6-9 am, as a poll watcher/assistant - there to help if anyone was having trouble registering to vote on site.

They had less than 50 voters during that 3 hours.

I heard that Ward 5 was having good turnout, and Ward 3. Our organization blanketed Wards 3, 4 , and 5 with voter info, including sample ballots for the last 2 days. We had Spanish interpreters at 3 and 5 as well.

Home in northern NH, we had 175 turn out (I live in a VERY small town) where we usually have 700+. No primary races in this district for state candidates.

At least our GOTV plans will be ready and able come November.

I received a call from them this AM reminding me to vote. I'm sure McEachern appreciated the work on his behalf. Heh...

I am seeing a lot of Lynch signs here in the north country.

I hope Charles Tarbell gets a respectable percentage of the Republican vote. That'll frost Benson's tonsils - though I think there's a reason his reelection campaign is so.....non-existant - I think he wants out. I'd run if I were him. Let someone else clean up his mess.

6. I think the low turnout will help Tarbell

I can't see too many people rushing to the polls to vote for Benson in a primary.
