Larry and Joni Jones of Toms River, the 10th District Democratic nominees for two Assembly seats, have made political history as the State’s first ever husband-and-wife nominees and running mates for the New Jersey Legislature.
The Joneses are longtime community activists who reside in Toms River, and who have initiated and developed numerous public education projects. The 2005 campaign marks their first run for state office.
Larry Jones is an attorney who is widely known in courthouse circles as a highly effective mediator, able to bring opposing sides together to compromise and resolve highly complex matters. This talent will be invaluable in the Legislature. He is a frequently published author of articles on legal and legislative matters, and has served as the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Special Editor on seven separate editions of New Jersey Lawyer magazine. He has also written numerous published articles on legislative issues and has served as a radio analyst on legal topics.
Joni Jones is well known as a registered nurse, autism consultant, nutritionist and author of numerous published articles on health care. She worked for 10 years educating seniors on health-related issues and is currently writing a series of articles on her experiences in hospice care. Her knowledge on this subject will be a huge asset in the Legislature as well.
