Dear Mr. Garrett: Do you call all dissenters at their home?
From Congress.org

Do you call all dissenters at their home?

To:
Rep. Scott Garrett

October 3, 2005

You called me at my house on September 11, 2005 because I wrote a letter to the editor in the Express-Times calling attention to the fact that you voted against the second Katrina Relief package.

I have to say that I am definitely intimidated. Job well done.

My question arises because one person confirmed on my blog that she received a similar call from you because of a letter to the editor, and I have heard rumors of other phone calls.

And in the Roll Call gossip column dated September 21st, your press secretary, Eric Cullen, said that not only are you exasperationless, but that you will "pick up the phone and call somebody" if you feel that somebody has written something worth challenging.

Don't you think that this is just plain thuggery, pure and simple?

I'm looking forward to the letter you write to me.

It will be scrutinized on the internet, but I hope you don't feel intimidated. You, unlike me, are an elected official. What you do is supposed to be scrutinized.

Hackettstown , NJ

3. If he calls you again, get in touch with the ACLU
and television press. Raise the visibility.

5. Maybe he will follow Mr. DeLay...
...right to jail. You really should contact the ACLU. This definitely is not legal, especially from an elected official.

9. I will try.
Last night, I wrote a vitriolic screed about the guy who wrote an anonymous email to me bragging about my personal information being all over the internet, and it got deleted pretty quick.

It made me think that I have to put this down for a while and focus on other things, but if anything new and relevant comes up I'll keep the New Jersey board of DU updated for sure.
